Speaker: Katie Koontz, DOR, Program Coordinator Washington's Working Families Tax Credit Division

    

Presenter Bio: Katie Koontz is the Program Coordinator for the Department of Revenue’s new Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) Division. Katie manages the unit responsible for processing the WFTC applications. She has been with the Department of Revenue for 8 years, and came to WFTC from the Department’s Interpretations and Technical Advice division. Katie has Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of St. Thomas.

 

CPE Credits: 1 CE depending on credentials

 

 

Course Description:

  • An overview of Washington’s brand-new Working Families Tax Credit Program. This overview will cover who is eligible and tools available to determine eligibility; a walk-through of the application process and application methods including paper, online, and modernized E-file; how an applicant can check the status of their application; WFTC fraud checks; and applicant appeal rights. This overview will also provide essential resources to aid tax practitioners and preparers who will assist clients in applying for the Working Families Tax Credit. 

 

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be gain knowledge of the laws, rules, systems, and resources that the Working Families Tax Credit program uses, in order to spread awareness of the program and assist eligible applicants in applying for the credit.
